Mr Suzor was my science teacher at LHS, and I babysat his children on numerous occasions as I grew up right down the street. At that time I recall just 4 little ones. He was an enthusiastic teacher and loved to get students excited about chemistry. Sorry to learn of his passing.

He was my much older cousin that I barely knew, but I can definitely see how much he looked like his dad and my dad (brothers born 10 years apart). My heart goes out to Kathy and his family, and to all the kids he taught and coached throughout his long history as educator! RIP Ray...if you see my parents, give them a hug for me!

Forty-six years ago Ray was my chemistry teacher at Agawam High School. Three years ago, my son, Dominic, had Ray as his A.P. Chemistry instructor at Somers High School. We both agreed that Ray was not only a dedicated, good, teacher, but also a wonderful person.
When Ray discovered that our son was a flute player and tenor vocalist, he jammed with Dominic and invited him to sit in with his ensemble. These performances were my son's introduction to jazz music and an inspiration to attend a Jazz Camp at URI. On October 23, 2015, Dominic completed his first solo musical concert at the URI 193 Coffee House. We all agree, Ray was there in spirit. Ray Suzor has touched the lives of thousands of people. He will not be forgotten.

Our love and sympathy to Kathleen and family.

Tom, Redina, and Dominic DeFilipi

He called me "Queen of the Loft." If ever there were a prince it was Ray Suzor. Bright and joyous he was ever so quick witted. We shared a love of jazz, of teaching, of life.
I am most proud that he called me friend. Farewell, dear Ray.

Ray had a storage room in the basement of our house. You could order chemicals by mail. He had the shelves all organized with bottles test tube etc. . There was a bunsen burner and other necessary tools for experiments. He was about 12. All was well until "boom"- I opened the cellar door to smoke billowing out. "Mom, Raymond blew up the cellar!" No serious damage done but I smile whenever I see smoke.

Ray and I were both members the Class of 1963 at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. We both started out as chemistry majors and Ray lasted longer than I did. He graduated with a degree in mathematics/chemistry.

Our paths crossed again when I began teaching at Longmeadow High School in 1971.

Ray was an excellent teacher who loved his subject which was again chemistry. He taught in the method of the UMass chemistry department - lecture/demonstration and individual laboratory work. He was a positive force for quality education at Longmeadow High School for over 35 years. He continued to support public education after his retirement.

Ray also enjoyed hockey and jazz music and was not just a spectator in both, but an active performer.

The suddenness of his death has left us in a state of shock. There was no time to say farewell.

My condolences to all his friends and to his family. He was a scientist, a teacher and a friend.
