Our first meeting was with Jackie Curtis. She was very professional; addressing our wishes and needs.
She absorbed every intimate detail that we requested and filled everyone with understanding and love.
Our family found her to be a devoted director with precision and compassion.
Our family and friends remarked again and again that every detail of the wake and funeral was directed with incredible camaraderie.
The Forastiere family carried out our every wish at a most sad time in our lives.

When my youngest sister passed away suddenly in August with no funeral preparations made in advance, we immediately called Forastiere Family Funeral as they handled both my father-in-law and brother-in-law's arrangements in the past. This time we choose the Agawam location as my sister was a Veteran and wished to be interred at the Mass Veteran's Cemetery in that town. We worked with Roger Grondin, funeral director, who assisted us with all the details, even contacting the cemetery for burial information. He was compassionate, professional and patient as we made these difficult decisions. Roger even shared a beautiful poem during the visitation which brought tears to our eyes. The level of care Forastiere's staff provided and concern for our family was wonderful. We were very impressed by the Air Force emblems placed on the hearse during the procession to the cemetery, the American flags waving from poles along the route, and the extra touch of a sweet kitten picture above my sister's obituary on their website, as she loved her cats. My family and I would highly recommend Forastiere. We thank Roger and all the staff for the care and compassion they provided our family and friends during this difficult time.

The recent loss of my sister Barbara has been very difficult for her husband, myself and the rest of family. Several years ago when Dad was dying we checked out a few funeral homes. Forastiere stood out above the rest as exceptionally caring and personalizing. I never forgot how they asked what Dad’s hobbies were. When we replied “fishing” we were told to bring his favorite rod and reel….and they had it propped near his casket.

Shortly thereafter we did a prepaid funeral with Forastiere. They walked us through the steps and were incredibly helpful. It was a huge relief to have our funerals already arranged the way we wanted them.

I contacted Forastiere Smith when my 93 year old father passed away in November. He was residing in a St. Louis nursing home and I needed to have him cremated there and eventually his ashes would come back to East Longmeadow. My sister and I recently held a Celebration of Life service for our beloved mother of 97 years. Losing her was heartbreaking but the staff at the East Longmeadow Forastiere location made this process smooth and they were exceptionally helpful. We chose cremation and Loren and Emily went over all the details step by step and gave us a packet of information for florists, monument places and restaurants for a reception. We ordered our flowers and everything was color coordinated. I did 4 poster boards with pictures of mom from birth to the present. Everyone loved them. Forastiere had them set up on easels for everyone to see. They tried to get the priest we asked for but he was going to be out of town. The day of the service, he showed up and said a prayer with us. They contacted the priest from St. Michael’s and his eulogy was perfect. Although he never met our mother, he talked as if he did. We were all so touched. When we were running late from the cemetery, Emily contacted the restaurant to let them know. Every detail was taken care of. The thank you notes depicted mom’s loves in life, sewing, music, singing and collecting buttons. Our mom would be so proud of her celebration. She was a truly remarkable woman and Forastiere made sure that everything was perfect. They have called and checked up on me to make sure I was doing ok. That in itself means the world to me. I would highly recommend them.

The staff at Forestiere was very professional and compassionate in the planning stages, during the memorial service and beyond. The faculty was elegant and provided a comforting atmosphere during a difficult time. They accommodated our needs and tailored the celebration of life to honor our loved one. Although this is a long time coming thank you, I would like to express my deep felt appreciation to Justin and Emily who very professionally and compassionately took care of my families needs at a very emotional time. The staff at Colonial Forastiere in Agawam were extremely caring and helped my family and me take care of the arrangements for my grandfather's funeral. He passed on Christmas eve, and although it was the busy holiday season, they helped us in every step of the process. He had a pre-planned arrangement he purchased back in the 1990s, which helped a lot, since loosing him was really difficult. His service was beautiful. They also provide follow up by checking in in the following months to see how we're doing and provide grief support. I can't say how great they were to work with, they've gone beyond what I expected.

Forastiere funeral did a great job with our sons arrangement. Lauren made us feel like family. She listened to us, I couldn't believe at the service when no one could say anything due to everyone being choked up, she stepped right in and kept the service going. They went above and beyond to make our family heard, comfortable and really provide a service that was fitting to my brother’s memory. They allowed us to be able to do a simple cremation, get his ashes and then on our own hold a wonderful memorial, celebrating his life as we always had with family and friends. I had my initial meeting with Loren when my husband went into hospice. She provided me with the ability to know what I had hoped for was possible and gave me the information I needed to plan exactly how we wanted things to proceed. When Jerry died and my daughters and I met with Brian we already had all that decided and it was just finishing the final details. Loren and Brian offered us caring, professional support which allowed my daughters and I to go through this very painful experience feeling like someone was looking out for us and ensuring things went smoothly according to the plans we had set out.
