Longmeadow – Nancy Elizabeth Garzieri, 69, of Longmeadow, passed away Sunday February 12, 2017 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. Born in Patterson, NJ to the late Anthony and Monique (deLery) Garzieri, she graduated from Ramapo Regional High School and attended Long Island University. Nancy had moved to Northampton in 1971 and for the past 20 years she resided in Longmeadow. In earlier years, Nancy was employed as the Advertising Manager for the Valley Advocate newspaper and then went on to be Account Manager for Old Republic National Title Insurance Company. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Claudia (Garzieri) Stroub in 2009. She is survived by her niece, Meghan Scott of New Jersey and by many relatives and dear friends. Nancy was fiercely devoted to family and friends alike. She loved to be closely in touch with everyone and to dispense her singular brand of commentary, advice, and heartfelt caring. She loved fashion, the arts and cultural events, travel, and fine food. Nancy was also a true Jersey Girl who loved Bruce Springsteen and could challenge the wrongs she saw with a voice straight from the streets of Patterson. She loved renovating and decorating her home and especially building and maintaining her beautiful landscaping. In her personal and work lives, Nancy shared the same honest interest in having meaningful relationships and sharing knowledge. It is what made her so successful with her work clients and loved by so many extended family members and long-time friends.
Family and friends are invited to meet for calling hours on Wednesday February 22nd 2017 from 3 – 7 PM at the Forastiere Smith Funeral Home, 220 North Main St., East Longmeadow with a 6 PM service to be held in the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date in New Jersey. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Nancy’s memory to Dakin Humane Society PO Box 6307, Springfield, MA 01101.
