Southwick – Karin Petersen Stucklen, 39, passed away unexpectedly on June 25, 2017. She is the daughter of Eric and Nancy (Fritzer) Petersen of Granville. Karin attended Granville schools and graduated from Southwick-Tolland Regional High School. Her interest for caring for people began at an early age and while in high school she had an opportunity of being the first intern of Noble Hospital, and also participated in the high school’s Childhood Program. She also volunteered her time at the Westfield Evangelical Church. Karin went on to become a CNA and HHA through the Red Cross in Springfield. She worked as a CNA for many years in Massachusetts and Florida, Renaissance in Westfield being one of them. Karin loved all animals and enjoyed horseback riding, nature, and visiting family. She was an artist who enjoyed sketching and painting. What brought Karin the most joy was caring for her daughter; she was a devoted mother to Kyla. Besides her parents, Eric and Nancy (Fritzer) Petersen, Karin is survived by her adored daughter Kyla Twarkins, her sister Kristin Lakoma of Vacaville, CA; her maternal grandmother Beverly (Carr) Fritzer of FL; her aunts, uncles and cousins, her cat Chloe and dog Penny. She was predeceased by her paternal grandparents Trygve “Trig” and Barbara (Hall) Petersen; and her maternal grandfather Thomas Fritzer, Sr. Visiting hours will be on Friday, June 30, 2017 from 4:00-6:00pm at Southwick Forastiere Funeral & Cremation on 624 College Highway in Southwick. On Saturday, July 1, 2017, friends and family may gather at the funeral home at 10:30am, with a service at 11am. Burial will take place in Silver Street Cemetery in Granville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Karin’s memory to any animal rescue of one’s choice.
