Cheryl Cowden

Cheryl Ann (Webster) Cowden, 61 of West Springfield, MA went home to meet her Lord on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at Baystate Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family and friends, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife of Karl Cowden of West Springfield. Cheryl was born in Springfield and resided in West Springfield before moving to Houston, TX where she lived for most of her adult life. Cheryl returned to West Springfield to retire and spend time with her family. She is the daughter of the late Donald Webster, Sr. and the late Carole Van Dyke. Cheryl is survived by her brothers Donald Webster of Springfield and Daniel Webster and his wife Patti of West Springfield, MA, Keith “Pine” Cowden and his wife Suzanne of Houston, TX and Kathleen Penberthy and her husband Walter “Butch” of Glendale, AZ. She leaves behind her cherished nephew Daniel Webster, Jr. “DJ” and his beautiful wife Maria and their two children Brady and Izabella; her special niece and friend Kristie Riley and her husband Daniel and their two children Brennan and Lillian; her nephew Cody Penberthy of Glendale, AZ; and her dearest friends, Kim Busch and Mark Kerr. Cheryl was an incredible woman who was loved by her family and friends. She loved spending time with her nieces and nephews and their children.The family would like to give a special thanks to the D’Amour Cancer Center, Dr. Richard Penson of Mass General Hospital and Baystate Medical Center; and a very special thanks to Erica Summers who took such wonderful care of Cheryl in her last days. At Cheryl’s request, the services and burial will be private for immediate family and friends. Arrangements are under the care of Colonial Forastiere Funeral & Cremation in Agawam.
