Feeding Hills- Joan C. (Schube) Jenks, 83, passed away on Monday, March 27, 2017. She was born on April 28,1933 in Springfield, to the late George and Ellen (Wheelock) Schube. Joan retired as executive secretary ,for the credit department, at Sears & Roebuck’s , West Springfield. Joan was the devoted wife of 65 years, to Russell D. Jenks; whom she met when they were 19 years old. Together, they belonged to the Western Massachusetts Model A Club and enjoyed traveling together. Joan was also a member of the Agawam Historical Association and with Russell (a former fire chief for the Town of Agawam) were instrumental in creating the Agawam Fire Museum; and assisted with the creation of the Smith House, on North West Street in Feeding Hills. In addition to her parents, Joan was predeceased by a brother Edward Schube. Besides her husband, Joan is survived by two nieces, Susan Schube and Mary Gray; and one nephew Peter Gray. Calling hours will begin at 10:00AM on Saturday (April 1, 2017) in the Colonial Forastiere Family Funeral Home, 985 Main St., Agawam; with a funeral home service at 12:00 NOON. Burial will follow in the Springfield Street Cemetery, Feeding Hills.
