Yolande Wood, 79, of Feeding Hills, passed away at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield on Sunday, September 3, 2017. Born on December 6, 1937 in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada to Rose Eva and Antoine Lachance, she lived in Quebec before marrying James Wesley Wood, Jr. in 1960. James traveled between Newfoundland, Canada and Quebec City to court Yolande before they decided that they were made for each other. They traveled with the US Military stopping in Newfoundland, Canada, Maine, and finally settling in Western Mass. Yolande was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church in Agawam and devoted her life to her husband and children. She loved to travel the country with her husband, enjoyed camping, gardening and felt strongly about keeping ties with all of her family all over the world. Yolande was a caring person with a wonderful smile that would light up a room. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, James Wesley Wood, Jr., retired U.S. Air Force MSgt, her oldest son Jacques Wesley Wood and his wife Krista Wood, her younger son Jean-Pierre Wood and his fiancé Bonnie Fitzgerald; her granddaughter, Kelsey Elizabeth and her husband Michael Wellman, grandson James Wesley Wood, III, and her younger granddaughter, Lia Anne Wood; her sister Monique Carrier of Levis, Quebec, her brothers, Andre Lachance and his partner Johann of Sainte-Agnes, Quebec, Michel Lachance and his wife Nicole Loiselle of St-leon de Standon, Quebec, and Jean-Yves Lachance of St-leon de Standon, Quebec. Yolande was preceded in death by her brothers, Roger Lachance of Baie-Commeau, Quebec and Jean-Pierre Lachance of Vanier, Quebec. Her family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 12th from 11-1 PM at the Colonial Forastiere Funeral Home, 985 Main St., Agawam.
