William Lehr Duffy

May 30, 1946 ~ April 2, 2019 (age 72)

SOUTHWICK – William Lehr Duffy, 72, passed away on April 2, 2019 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Springfield, MA on May 30, 1946, he was the son of the late William and Eileen (Lehr) Duffy. For many years, Bill served on the Southwick Park and Recreation Commission. He coached basketball at the Southwick Recreation Center and loved to play golf. Bill, whose nickname was "The Mayor," enjoyed promoting and spending time at his daughter's café, Red Riding Hood's Basket.  Most of all he was a proud parent and loved bragging about his children and grandchildren. Besides his parents, Bill was predeceased by his brother Jack Duffy. To cherish his memory, he leaves his loving wife of 47 years, Nancy (Cervino) Duffy of Southwick; his children Thomas Duffy and his wife Tiffany, Benjamin Duffy and his wife Ai-Ya, Kathleen (Duffy) Kolva and her husband Matthew and Maureen (Duffy) Shea and her husband Michael; ten grandchildren; a brother Raymond Duffy and a sister Laura Dougherty. Family and friends are invited to gather on Sunday, April 14, 2019 from 2- 5 PM at the Southwick Forastiere Funeral Home, 624 College Highway, Southwick, MA. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 15, 2019 beginning at 8:45 AM at the funeral home followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 AM in Our Lady of the Lake Church, 224 Sheep Pasture Road, Southwick, MA. Burial will be in New Cemetery, College Highway, Southwick. In lieu of flowers, since Pop Pop loved to treat for ice cream, the family requests you take a loved one out for ice cream and send a photo to Bill’s family at icecreamforpoppop@gmail.com and/or send memorial contributions to the Springfield Rescue Mission, 10 Mill Street, Springfield, MA 01108.
