Obituary

On Monday, September 24, 2018 I thanked all the little people for the last time and went to live with God. I grew up in Holyoke, MA and graduated Holyoke High School in 1961. I attended Holyoke Junior College before enlisting in the U. S. Army. I served as an infantryman for 3 years and was decorated for actions in the Belgian Congo. I leave behind the love of my life Sandra A. (Hall) Hollinger, my wife of 53 years. I also leave behind my son Keith Hollinger, Laura (Holden), daughter Kimberly Hollinger, granddaughter Kaitlin Hollinger, grandson Steven Hollinger, and step-grandchildren Emily, Mark and Scott Zebrowski. Sisters and Brother- in-Law Suzan Windsor, Alan (Pam) Hall, Jimmy (Lisa) Hall, Katy (Glenn) Basinger, and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. I also leave behind my mother Lillian Hollinger. I was preceded by my father Walter (Whitey) Hollinger. I have and will for eternity cherish my family. I was employed for 28 years at United Technologies, last serving at Hamilton Standard. Thereafter I was employed by a Y2K consulting company. After Y2K I worked several temporary jobs until I found the job of my dreams at The Ranch Golf Club. I eventually became a member of the club and enjoyed many years of golf with my friends. My family and I enjoyed traveling and cruising together and are huge NASCAR and Red Sox fans. I was a member of the Agawam Congregational Church over 40 years, I sang choir and was a member of the board of deacons. You can visit me from 4-7 PM on Thursday, September 27th at Colonial Forastiere Funeral Home, 985 Main St., Agawam. A church service will be held at 12:30PM on Friday, September 28th at the Agawam Congregational Church, 745 Main St., Agawam followed by a brief ceremony and interment at the Massachusetts Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Agawam. We would like to thank Dr. John McCann, the infusion staff at the D’Amour Cancer Center and the Baystate Visiting Nurses and Hospice staff for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the D'Amour Cancer Center or the Baystate VNA & Hospice on my behalf. The address for either organization is 280 Chestnut St., 6th Fl., Springfield, MA 01199. For online condolences please visit www.forastiere.com.
