Obituary

Vivian M. Schoenemann, 102, passed away peacefully at Baystate Medical Center on November 17, 2022, with family by her side. She is reunited with her beloved husband, Martin, who predeceased her on January 12, 1999.

Vivian was born on June 14, 1920, in Springfield, MA; one of three children to the late Edward and Victorine (DeRaleau) Dubour. Vivian met and married the love of her life, Martin, on January 27, 1951 and shortly after they had two wonderful children. Throughout her life she worked various jobs; a teller at Union Trust Bank and at Valley Bank, then as a hairdresser and finally as a bookkeeper. She was a bookkeeper for her brother-in-law at Caldon’s Autobody, as well as Dave’s FoodBaskets for many years.

Vivian was a loyal and devoted parishioner of Holy Name Church throughout her life. She was very active in her community having volunteered regularly at Holy Name Church and at the Glenmeadow Retirement Community. She enjoyed many trips with family and friends in particular traveling with her longtime close friend, Rhena Bourque. In her spare time she loved knitting and sewing, often times displaying her craftsmanship through homemade garments. She will always be remembered for being a wonderful cook and hosting dinner with family and friends. More importantly, being a mother and spending time with her family was always her number one priority.

She is survived by her son Martin F. Schoenemann and his wife, Margaret, and her daughter Sandra Rowley. She also leaves behind her grandson, Kevin Rowley. She is predeceased by her loving husband of 48 years, Martin C. Schoenemann. She is also predeceased by her brother Everett Dubour and her sister Dorothy Caldon.

The family would like to thank the entire staff of Glenmeadow Retirement Community where she resided for the last 24 years. Also, they thank the nurses, doctors, and hospice providers of Baystate Medical Center for their support and for taking such great care of Vivian through this difficult time.

At the request of the family all services will be held privately. Forastiere Smith Funeral & Cremation are honored to assist with the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Glenmeadow Inc. 24 Tabor Crossing, Longmeadow, MA 01106 or Holy Name Parish 323 Dickinson St., Springfield, MA 01108.
