Obituary

Longmeadow – Vincenzina A. “Vinnie” Bumbaca, 95, passed away on Monday, May 11, 2020 at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield. She was born on June 7, 1924 in Gerace, Province of Reggio Calabria, Italy to her parents Francesco Peter and Teresa (Mule) Bumbaca. Vinnie and her sister Carmela immigrated with their parents to the Unites States in 1931, they were very proud of their American citizenship. Vinnie was a proud member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and a devout parishioner for over 89 years. She worked as the Radiology Department Manager for Mercy and then Holyoke Soldiers Home for over 40 years until her retirement. She was a member of the Italian Cultural Center, Twin Hills Country Club and Colony Club of Springfield. She and her sister Carmela enjoyed spending time together, golfing, playing bridge and travelling the world. Vinnie was an avid reader, and enjoyed sharing her experiences of traveling. She will be deeply missed by her many friends and family, but mostly by her caretakers and lifelong friends Marisa and Frank Raschilla and family who helped keep Vinnie in her beloved home as she wished. The Raschilla’s would like to thank her private caretakers Alla, Marilyn, Denise and Robin who helped care for Vinnie. She was predeceased by her parents and her sister Carmela.

Services are entrusted to Forastiere Smith Funeral & Cremation, was held privately with her burial in St. Michael’s Cemetery. A memorial mass will be held at a later date.
