Vincent Joseph Mastrangelo, 91, beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend passed away on May 31, 2018 at the Jewish Nursing Home. He was born in Springfield to the late Giuseppe and Ercilia (Lalli) Mastrangelo on June 1, 1926. Vincent was a 1944 graduate of Springfield Technical High School. He proudly served overseas in the U. S. Navy during WWII. Vincent went on to further his education at Coyne Electrical Radio School in Chicago, IL where he became certified as an Electric and Radio Technician. He worked in the Electronics Industry at Freedman Radio, Elkas Brothers, and Tarbell-Waters in Springfield. He retired from R. E. Phelon Company in 1992 after 33 years. Vincent was a family man who was proud of his Italian Heritage and believed in passing on family traditions to future generations. His wisdom, guidance and love for life will be greatly missed. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his brother, Donald Mastrangelo, and his sister, Christine Novak. He leaves his loving wife of 67 years, April (Castro) Mastrangelo; his son, Joseph Mastrangelo and his wife Elizabeth of Wilbraham; his daughter, Margaret Mastrangelo and her wife Devorah Jacobson of Amherst; 5 grandchildren, Christina and her husband Nicholas, Michael and his wife Allison, Jessica, Nicholas and his fiancé Lauren, and Jacob; his siblings, Norma Bassett of Essex, CT, Richard Mastrangelo and his wife Rose of Springfield, and Diana Turowsky of Agawam. Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours, Tuesday June 5th from 10AM to 12PM at Forastiere Smith Funeral Home, 220 North Main St., East Longmeadow, followed by a procession to St. Mary’s Church in Longmeadow for a Funeral Mass at 1PM. A committal service with Military Honors will follow at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Agawam.
