Obituary

Agawam – Thomas M. Albano, 91, passed away Tuesday, January 11, 2022 with his loving wife and family by his side. Born in Springfield, he was one of eight children to his parents Immacolata (Daniele) and Giovanni Albano. He was proud to serve in the U.S. Navy. He worked for the City of Springfield for over 25 years in Streets and Engineering Department as a Civil Engineer. Prior to that he was a patent draftsman for Attorneys Chapin & Neil. Tom was hardworking. In his downtime he was always working on a project, whether it was making furniture, shed, garage, or putting in a new fence, even after his 90th birthday. He played golf; however, his favorite past time was to spend time with his grandchildren and family.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Margaret (Giuggio) Albano, his son Thomas Albano and his wife Elizabeth of Montgomery, his daughter Karen Mair and her husband Martin of Mt. Pleasant SC; seven grandchildren: Tom and Jennifer Albano; Alexander, Annelise, James, Thomas and Gwyneth Mair; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Besides his parents, Tom was predeceased by his seven siblings: Louis, Antonio, Michael, Severino, Joseph, Jennie Choiniere, and Mary Giuliana. Due to the pandemic, Tom’s services are being held privately for the family.
