Thomas J. Bernardi

Thomas Joseph Bernardi, 80, ascended into everlasting life May 9, 2021. Born November 22, 1940 in Springfield, MA, he was a son to the late Emilio T. and Irene L. (Boutote) Bernardi. He was a 1954 graduate of Mt. Carmel School then attended a Seminary School in Alabama for 3 years before returning to Springfield to graduate from Cathedral High School in 1958. Tommy was self-employed in his own business Corporate Search Systems as an Executive Recruiter. He spent many years in the recruiting business and previously had been employed with the US Postal Service. He was a devote catholic and his greatest joy was spending time with his children, grandchildren and siblings. Tommy also had a passion for electronics, photography, woodworking, music and playing board games, especially backgammon and cribbage. He is survived by his former wife and dear friend Mary (Roberts) Bernardi; his children Donna Agnes and her husband, Matt, Michael Bernardi and his wife, Lori, Jeanne Giordano and her husband, Daniel, Suzanne Bernardi, Christopher Bernardi and Karen Simpkins and her husband, Russel; and grandchildren Ashley, Mary Kate, Johnathan, Samantha, Emerson, Christopher, Robert, Amber, Britney, Nicholas, Kaitlyn, Emily and Elizabeth. He also leaves his sisters Doreen Micali and Sheryl Lessard; brothers Michael Bernardi and sister-in-law Patricia, and John Bernardi and sister-in-law Jeanne; numerous nieces, nephews other loving relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers-in-law Frank Micali and Joe Lessard. Calling hours for Tommy will be held from 1-4PM on Sunday, May 16, 2021 at Colonial Forastiere Funeral Home, 985 Main St., Agawam. A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 17th beginning at 8:45AM from the funeral home with a Liturgy of Christian Burial, to be celebrated at 10AM, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Springfield with interment following in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Springfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Tom’s name to support Dr. Eduardo Corrales’ ear and hearing disorder research.
