Theodore Stephen Urban

July 23, 1931 ~ July 5, 2017 (age 85) 85 Years Old

Theodore “Champ” S. Urban, 85, of East Longmeadow, beloved husband of the late Janet (Page) Urban, passed away on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 surrounded by his loving children at the Sosin Center in Longmeadow. Born on July 23, 1931, he was the son of the late Martin and Helen (Czupryna) Urban. Ted started his life-long career in the insulation business working for U.S. Insulation for many years before venturing off on his own on April 1, 1982 when he founded Urban & Sons Insulation. He was a member of the Western Mass Home Builders Association. Nothing was more important to him than his family and spending time with them, whether it was traveling around the world with his beloved Janet, or his weekly Saturday trips to Mohegan Sun, nothing brought a smile to his face more than enjoying the company of his family. Ted was an avid sports fan, especially the Red Sox and Patriots, and he enjoyed watching them win the 2017 Super Bowl. Ted had a great sense of humor and would always make people smile and laugh at his unique one liner jokes. He was a member of Our Lady of Sacred Heart Church in Springfield. Ted was a loving husband, cherished father, devoted grandfather and Big Pa, and friend to so many who will cherish his memory. He leaves his loving children, Mark Urban of Granby, MA, Alan Urban of East Longmeadow, Leslie Sias of Springfield, and Donna Dwarska and her husband Donald of Springfield; 3 grandchildren, Jeffrey Sias and his wife Andrea, Anthony Urban, and Daniel Dwarska; he was Big Pa to his great-grandson, Gavin Urban; his brother Frederick Urban and his wife Edna of Ware, his sister Helen Marczyk and her husband Theodore of Springfield; his sister-in-law, Evelyn Urban of Auburn; and many loving nieces and nephews. Besides his wife, he was predeceased by his granddaughter, Allison Dwarska in 2013; his 3 brothers, Joseph, Chester, and Michael Urban; and his sister Wanda.His family will receive friends on Monday, July 10th from 4-7 PM at the Forastiere Smith Funeral Home 220 North Main St., East Longmeadow. Ted’s Funeral will begin on Tuesday, July 11th at 9:45 AM at the funeral home, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 AM at Our Lady of Sacred Heart Church, Boston Rd., Springfield. Burial will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Springfield. The Urban family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Iyer and his entire staff at the Caritas Center, as well as the 2nd floor staff; to Ted’s cardiology specialists Gina and her husband Dr. Zach Zichittella at BayState Wing Memorial Hospital; as well as the wonderful staff on the 2nd floor of the Sosin Center for going well above their responsibilities in ensuring that Ted was well cared for in his final days. All of his care team will never be forgotten for their kind and compassionate care of Ted. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Allison P.
