Stephen E. Sabol

Southwick-Stephen Edward Sabol, 87, Ascended Into the Journey of Everlasting Life on Tuesday May 1, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. Stephen was married in 1956 to Joan (Hosey) Sabol in the basement of Our Lady of the Lake Church in Southwick; prior to the completion of the church as we know it today. In addition to his devoted wife of 62 years,  Stephen leaves his beloved children, a son and his wife, Stephen W. and Cathy Sabol, of Feeding Hills, MA; four daughters, Joanne Babinski and her husband David, of Russell, MA, Donna Johnson and her husband Paul, of Southwick, Sharon Ridgway and her husband Alan, of Montgomery, MA ; Kathy Monczka and Jim Cousineau, of Westfield; 7 adored grandchildren, Brandon Johnson, Jessica Menzone and her husband Joe, David Babinski, Andrea Carey and her husband Jared, Tyler Monczka, Ryan Monczka, Chanel Alexis Sabol; 2 cherished great-grandchildren, Oakley Menzone, Aria Menzone; along with nieces, nephews, and cousins Stephen was born on December 14, 1930, in Westfield, Massachusetts, the son of the late Stephen M. Sabol and Esther (Nadrowski) Sabol. Stephen was the brother of the late Shirley Cromwell.  He retired as a machinist in 1993 from Berkshire Industries in Westfield.A resident of Southwick for over 60 years, Stephen was an active parishioner of Our Lady of the Lake Church. He belonged to the Knights of Columbus Fr. Shea Council #11178.  Stephen unselfishly, gave of his time to such organizations as the Southwick Senior Center and Meals on Wheels.    His enjoyment was with his family at the Lakehouse in Becket; boating, fishing and flying his model airplane on the water. Stephen’s greatest joy, was flying his nephew’s plane, with him by his side. He obtained his pilot’s license before his driver’s license. He enjoyed all his friends at the ball room dances; and a close relationship with his son at Southwick Motocross 338. The family will gather and receive friends from 4:00PM-7:00PM on Tuesday (May 8th, 2018) in the Southwick Forastiere Family Funeral Home, 624 College Highway, Southwick. The funeral service will begin at 9:00AM on Wednesday (May 9th, 2018) from the funeral home; with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00AM in Our Lady of the Lake Church, Sheep Pasture Road, Southwick. Burial will follow in the New Cemetery, Southwick. For those who prefer , memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Research Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
