Steve Conboy passed peacefully away Monday, September 13th surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with lung disease. Steve was born in Longmeadow, MA to the late Jack and Jean (Trainor) Conboy. He attended Cathedral High School, Western New England College, and later earned his Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Anna Maria College. Steve’s career started at Grossman’s Lumber. He then was hired by the Town of Longmeadow as a police officer. Throughout a 32 year career he rose through the ranks to Captain. During his time as a police officer he enjoyed helping and getting to know the people of Longmeadow. After retiring from Longmeadow he worked at the Federal Court House in Springfield as a marshal. Steve’s joy in life was spending time with his family, especially his grandsons Jacob and Luca. Steve was a people person, and one of his favorite pastimes was meeting with friends at restaurants. Wherever Steve went he found someone he knew and loved to spend time catching up. Steve leaves his wife of 45 years, Geraldine Conboy; sons, Christopher Conboy and his wife Melanie of East Longmeadow, MA, and Timothy Conboy and his wife Emily of Norwalk, CT; his sisters Karen Vogel of Otis, MA, and Carolyn Conboy of Los Angeles, CA; and brothers Jack Conboy and Michael Conboy of Otis, MA. He also leaves many nieces and nephews who were dear to his heart. Steve showed a kindness and warmth everywhere he went and will be missed by many. Visiting hours for Steve will be from 1:00-5:00PM on Sunday, September 19, 2021 at Forastiere Smith Funeral & Cremation, 220 N. Main St., East Longmeadow, MA. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 20th beginning at 9:30AM from the funeral home with a Liturgy of Christian Burial, to be celebrated at 10:30AM, at St. Mary’s Church, Longmeadow.
