Springfield – Shirley Mae (Graveline) St. Germain, 88, of Springfield, passed away at home on Thursday January 11, 2018. Born in Ludlow to the late Aldor and Grace (Trombley) Graveline, she was a graduate of Commerce High School in Springfield. Shirley was predeceased by her beloved husband, Alfred L. St. Germain in 2000; her son, Lawrence St. Germain in 2004; her sister, Sandy Glockenberg in 2014; her brother-in-law, Donald Emet and her niece, Candace Emet. Shirley was a communicant of St. Catherine of Siena Church in Springfield and a member of its women’s guild. In earlier years, she was employed as a keypunch operator at the Chemical Corporation in Springfield. She had many talents and hobbies over the years, including crafting, crossword puzzles, knitting, crocheting, cross stitching and writing poems. She loved decorating at Christmas time and enjoying her many animals she cared for over the years, especially Tiny the squirrel and her dog, Spirit. Shirley loved her family dearly and will be missed by her daughter, Deborah Parker and her husband Bruce of Springfield who took such great care of Shirley and did so much to allow her to stay at home; her sister, Phyllis Emet of Wilbraham; four grandchildren, Kerri Jarzabski and her husband John of East Longmeadow, Gregory Parker of New York City, David St. Germain and his wife Jennifer of Huntington, MA and Susan Brown and her husband Karl of Virginia; five great-grandchildren, Ella, Grace, Kellan, Jacob and Farrah; daughter-in-law, Paulette St. Germain of Ludlow; three nephews, Eric and Adam Glockenberg and Eric Emet and by many dear friends and neighbors over the years whom she cherished. Family and friends are invited to meet for a period of visitation on Tuesday January 16th from 9 – 10:30 AM at the Forastiere Smith Funeral Home, 220 North Main St., East Longmeadow, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:30 AM at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 1023 Parker St., Springfield. Burial will be in St. Aloysius Cemetery, Springfield. Shirley cared for many animals over the years and the family asks that memorial donations may be made in Shirley’s memory to either the Dakin Pioneer Valley Humane Society. P.O.
