Ruth "Ruthareti" Pappas

East Longmeadow- Ruth Pappas, 87, died on May 29,2018. Ruth graduated from American International College, Springfield, with a degree in education. She resided in East Longmeadow, and was very active in community activities; and was a member of the First Congregational Church. She worked as an elementary school teacher in Springfield for many years. Ruth was a member of the Massachusetts Teacher’s Association and maintained close friendships with her co-workers and colleagues after her retirement. Ruth was an accomplished artist in multiple mediums including painting, poetry, and jewelry design and was an active member of local cultural organizations. She enjoyed gardening and traveling the world with her sister Faye.
Ruth is predeceased by her parents, George P. Pappas and Nikee Mavromates Pappas and her sisters Effea Pappas Roupas, and Faye Pappas. She is survived by her cousin Phoebe Pappas Cruoog in West Hartford, CT.
A funeral service will take place at 11:30AM on Monday July 9th, 2018 in the Forastiere Smith Family Funeral Home, 220 North Main St., East Longmeadow with visitation one hour prior to service time. Interment will follow in the Billings Hill Cemetery, East Longmeadow. www.forastiere.com
