Ruth Bourque

Ruth Caroline Bourque passed away on November 27, 2019 after a brief illness. She was born in Woburn, Massachusetts on April 12, 1921. She was predeceased by her parents Walter H. and Christina M. Doe, and sister Hazel McDermott, and her husband George H. Bourque.
Ruth is survived by her daughter Ruth Elizabeth O’Connor of Mineral Virginia and her son Charles and his wife Lorrie of Simsbury Connecticut. She also leaves eight grandchildren Kristian and Sarah O’Connor, Charles and Dania Bourque, Elizabeth and Robert Johnson, Christina M. Bourque and Melissa Siberon, and three great grandchildren Isaac Bourque, Sophie and Adam O’Connor, and several nieces and nephews and their families. 
She worked at Springfield College for many years in the library, the audio visual department, and the Bursar’s office and also at the Mount Holyoke College Library. 
Ruth was extremely creative and talented. Her mice, her quilts, fish hats, Santa’s, dolls and animals brought joy to many people.
Her family would like to thank her for her uncanny sense of fun, unrelenting youthfulness, impracticality, determination and strong will. She was well respected and loved by all.  The family will receive relatives and friends from 11:00AM-12:00NOON, on Tuesday (Dec.3, 2019) in the Forastiere Smith Family Funeral Home, 220 North Main St., East Longmeadow. A funeral home service will take place at 12:00NOON. Burial will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery , Springfield.
