Rose Maruca
January 17, 1925 ~ April 2, 2018 (age 93) 93 Years Old
Agawam – Rose (Liquori) Maruca passed away peacefully on Monday, April 2, 2018 surrounded by loving family. Born in Springfield, she was the daughter of the late Alphonso and Lena (Albano) Liquori. She moved to Agawam in 1958 where she lived most of her life with her own family. Rosie worked at United Fund and was the Manager of the Residential Division, prior to that she worked for John Deer and Federal Intermediate Land Bank, and always worked at her family’s Italian store on Longhill Street in Springfield taking care of the business. Family and her faith were of the utmost importance to her. She was the greatest caretaker to all. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Springfield. Rosie is survived by her devoted son Mark Maruca of East Longmeadow; her grandson Dustin Maruca; great-grandson Drayke Palazzi; her sister Lena “Babe” Peloquin of West Springfield; her nieces and nephews whom she treasured as her own: Michael, Linda, Lisa, Tony and Anna; and her great nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 53 years Santo Maruca and her sister Jennie Basile. The family would like to especially thank Jose Torres for the daily love and care he provided Rosie over the last year and through her final days. Family and friends are asked to gather for visiting hours on Thursday, April 5, 2018 from 9:30-10:30am at Forastiere Smith Funeral & Cremation in East Longmeadow followed by a 11:30am Liturgy of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Springfield; burial will immediately follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery in Springfield. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital www.stjude.org or to Baystate Hospice 50 Maple Street, Springfield MA 01102.
