Springfield – Ronald F. Girouard, 90, passed away on January 13, 2022 peacefully at home. Born in Springfield, MA on February 9, 1931, he was the son of the late Harry N. and Agnes M. (Ouimette) Girouard. For 30 years, Ronald worked for Monsanto and then Solutia as a maintenance clerk and in payroll before retiring in 1987. He also served for 14 years in the U.S. Navy Reserves. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening and woodworking in his home based workshop. In his earlier years, he had played the Hawaiian guitar in a band called the Rainbow Trio, and in his later years, he often shared his love of music with the residents of local nursing homes. Most of all, Ronald enjoyed going to lunch at 99 Restaurant with his daughter, Linda and taking great pride in his home and garden. Besides his parents, Ronald was predeceased by his wife Maria S. (Marchese) Girouard, who passed away in June of 1971 and his sister Elaine Drozdowski. To cherish his memory, he leaves his loving daughter Linda Fleming and her husband Michael of Ware; his grandchildren Heather Weirbrick and her husband Michael, Scott Fleming and his wife Brittany and Nathan Fleming; his great grandchildren Chloe, Emma, Connor and Piper; his sisters Janeth Girouard and Gloria Girouard; many nieces and nephews as well as his dear friend Dale Kratovil. Family and friends are invited to gather on Thursday, January 20, 2022 from 4 – 7 PM at Forastiere Smith Funeral & Cremation, 220 North Main Street, East Longmeadow. Funeral services will be on Friday, January 21, 2022 beginning with a period of visitation from 10 – 11 AM. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be at 12 Noon at Holy Name Parish, 323 Dickinson Street, Springfield. Burial will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery, 1601 State Street, Springfield.
