Robert Joseph Nell

Holyoke – Robert Joseph Nell, 91, passed away on February 1, 2020 at the Soldiers Home in Holyoke. Robert was born in Harrisburg, PA on March 12, 1928 to the late William and Florence Nell. Robert attended Girard College in Philadelphia and graduated from Fordham University in Bronx, NY for business. He worked in marketing and advertising at BBDO before starting his own company ACT Advertising Creative Talent.  He enjoyed oil painting, sketching, and fixing anything and everything. He was a socializer and ladies’ man with true charm and charisma. He loved going out to dinners and spending time with friends and family. After residing in New York City for 35 years, he moved to live with his son in Longmeadow. He leaves behind his son Robert J. Nell Jr. of Longmeadow, MA; 2 daughters Elizabeth Nell of Ridgefield, CT and Alice Skelton-Nell and her husband Jay of Fairfield, CT; and 5 grandchildren Nicole, Michael, Jamie, Daniel and Matthew. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased his brothers David and William, and sister, Lynne Kelley. A private service will be held at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery.  Robert will be recognized at the 11AM Mass on Friday, February 28th at St. Mary’s Church, 519 Longmeadow St, Longmeadow.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Robert’s name may be made to the Soldiers Home, 110 Cherry Street, Holyoke MA, 01040.
