1950 – 2021

Southwick – Robert W. Horacek 71, passed away surrounded by his loving family on October 31, 2021. He was the devoted husband of 46 years to Sharon Hopkins Horacek, loving father, grandfather, brother and uncle.  Robert was born on May 20, 1950 to William and Vlasta (Hlavac) Horacek in Springfield, MA.Bob grew up in West Springfield and Agawam, moving to Southwick 26 years ago.  He loved Southwick and began his service to the town almost immediately after to moving into town by being on the Finance Committee, Capital Expenditures, CPC, Open Space, and Cable Advisory committees. He loved Southwick and was a willing participant to protect and preserve the town. He was a minister for the Universal Life Church and married “RJ” and Cyndi and 6 more couples and a renewal of vows for another couple.Bob was an honest, loving, supportive, caring and stubborn man.  He lived his life on his terms even when very ill.  His favorite things in life were his family, granddaughters, his toys (motorcycle, boat), his cars, golfing and most of all politics.  He loved a good debate about politics of the world .Bob started his sales career with The Colby Company and started his own sales agency Prime-Line Marketing, Inc. in 1982, and had been successful with it for 39 years, and as of late working from home.He was a 1968 graduate of Agawam High School, and graduated from UMass with a bachelors in business.  He loved a great golf game with his friends and classmates from high school, his friends John and Richie and of late Celeste.  Always ready for a quick golf game whenever anyone called.  Loved reading , watching Hallmark movies with his wife, talking on the phone while pacing throughout the house, loved good food & wine, and cooking “he didn’t just cook, he created” was his favorite line in the kitchen. He also loved a great Manhattan while “catching some rays” on our deck, floating around in the pool in summer, visiting friends on the Cape, and shooting at the gun range whenever possible.In addition to Sharon his wife, he leaves his sons Robert Joseph “RJ” and his wife Cynthia, Mark Peter, his two adored granddaughters Ilona Olivia and Isabella Juditha Horacek all of Southwick, his brother Dean Horacek and his wife Joanne of Southwick, his two sisters Sherry Kreps and her husband David of Agawam, Ellen Sousa and her husband Rick of Portsmouth, RI. Along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family member and friends.A Memorial Gathering will take place from 9:00AM-11:30AM to be followed by a sharing of memories on Saturday November 20, 2021 in the Southwick Forastiere Funeral & Cremation, 624 College Highway, Southwick.
