Obituary

Springfield – Robert George Gosselin, 85, beloved father and grandfather passed away on Thursday, May 31, 2018. He was born in St. Johnsbury, VT to the late George Gosselin and Albertine (Robitaille) Gosselin Meunier. He graduated High School from the Oblate Seminary in Bucksport, ME. Bob proudly served his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. He then went on to further his education at Springfield Technical Community College earning his Associates Degree in Engineering Technology. Bob’s career as an Engineer spanned 45 years working for Brown Paper Company in Holyoke, Wallace Manufacturing in Enfield, CT, and retiring in 1998 from Jarvis Caster in Palmer. He was presently a communicant of Holy Name Church and was a long time communicant of the former St. Joseph Church. Bob enjoyed Bowling, playing pool, canoeing and fishing with his family and friends. Most of all his family was his greatest joy and he especially loved time spent with his 8 cherished grandsons. He will be greatly missed for his kind and generous ways. He was predeceased by the love of his life and wife of 50 years, Marie (Gaudet) Gosselin; his sisters, Lorraine Letourneau and Claire Loya; and his brother, Michael Gosselin. He leaves his 5 children, Cheryl Vasquez, Jeanne Gosselin, Peter Gosselin and his wife Elizabeth Halgas, Daniel Gosselin and his wife Whitney, and James Gosselin and his wife Patricia Canavan; and his 8 grandsons, Geoffrey, Andrew, Ryan, Jack, Robert, Patrick, Max and Leo. Bob’s funeral service will be held on Monday, June 4th from the Forastiere Smith Funeral Home, 220 N. Main St. East Longmeadow at 8:00AM followed by a Mass at 9:30AM in Holy Name Church, Springfield. A committal service with Military Honors will follow at the Massachusetts Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery Chapel, Agawam. There will be no calling hours.
