Richard SanGiorgi passed away on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at Encompass in Ludlow. Born in Springfield, he was the only son of Maria (Testori) and Oreste SanGiorgi. He graduated from Agawam High School where he was a great athlete and enjoyed the comradery of playing on the football team. He served his country for over five years in the United States Army. Rich was a resident of West Springfield for most of his life. He was a Master Electrician and worked for several businesses, most recent COVANTA Energy. He was a member of the Electrician Union. Passionate for things that went fast, Rich enjoyed owning many corvettes over the years, flying planes and drag racing motorcycles. He was an instrument rated pilot and a licensed mechanic to work on airplanes. He was a flight instructor at Bowles Airport where he had his plane, and later flew out of Barnes in Westfield where he developed countless friendships. Rich also had a big heart for animals, and always had a German Shepard as part of his family. He will be missed by his companion Diantha Ferrier of Ludlow and her family, his former wife Mary Ellen Walsh, and many friends including Jon Lund and Bruce Green. Rich’s wishes were to take his last flight and see his favorite sights privately. Forastiere Family Funeral & Cremation is entrusted with his care and arrangements.
