Rene Acosta

West Springfield – Rene (Ray) Acosta, 82, passed away peacefully July 6, 2021 with family present. He was born in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico, moving to the US early in life. Ray loved cooking and in his younger days was a head chef for a variety of local restaurants. He had the ability to create amazing dishes, but when you asked him how much of a spice to add, he’d tell you, “Until it tastes right.” He was also employed with Smith & Wesson, ultimately retiring from Carando. Ray was a “Jack of All Trades” and could always be found tinkering around the house. He loved watching baseball, especially the Boston Red Sox as well as watching Nascar. He leaves behind his daughter Lori Laffin (Keith) of Bedford, OH, his son Scott Acosta (Christine) of Westfield, MA along with grandchildren Sam, Delcie and Emily. Ray was predeceased by his loving wife, Bonnie (Duncan) Acosta. Private services will be held at the convenience of his family.
