September 19, 1943 ~ March 1, 2018 (age 74) 74 Years Old
Feeding Hills - Regina Ann (Scarcella) Bossig, 74, beloved wife, mother, aunt and good friend passed away on March 1, 2018 at the Atrium at Cardinal Drive. She was born in Hazleton, PA to the late Salvatore and Mary (Penn) Scarcella on September 19, 1943. A 1961 graduate of Hazleton High School she went on to become a Registered Nurse graduating from Hazleton State General Hospital School of Nursing in 1964. She then earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing Education at Misericordia University in Dallas, PA in 1966. She began her working career teaching at Hazleton State Hospital School of Nursing from 1966-1969. In 1969 she began her career at Heritage Hall Nursing Home starting out as a private duty nurse then moving up to Director of Nursing and then Administrator of Heritage Hall North. Regina then was the Nursing Home Administrator at Heritage Hall until her retirement in 2009. Her career spanned 40 years. She was dedicated to her work, well respected by her staff and known as the most caring administrator they ever had. In all phases of her health care career, Regina’s professional expertise and personal talents had earned her the respect of her staff and coworkers. Regina loved being a wife and mother. She also loved being with friends, shopping, jewelry, and was never without her lipstick. She enjoyed going out to breakfast with her husband and chatting with local friends. This kind woman who was always willing to listen will be greatly missed. She leaves her loving husband of 49 years, John L. Bossig; her devoted daughter, Nicole Bossig Hammerle and her husband Greg of Feeding Hills; 2 brothers, Joseph Scarcella and his wife Patricia; and Michael Scarcella and his wife Suzie both of Hazleton, PA; 2 nephews, Joseph Scarcella II, and Aaron Bossig and his wife Kendra; dear friends, Carol Hill-Rondoletto and Carla Hultine; and her beloved dog, Stella. The family would like to thank the entire staff at the Atrium at Cardinal Dr. for their exceptional care. Regina’s funeral will be held on Tuesday, March 6th at 10AM from Colonial Forastiere Funeral Home, 985 Main St., Agawam followed by a procession to Sacred Heart Church, Feeding Hills for a funeral Mass at 11AM. Burial will follow in Springfield Street Cemetery. A calling hour will precede the funeral from 9-10AM at the funeral home. Donations may be made to Dakin Pioneer Valley Humane Society, P.O.
