Springfield – On March 19, 2023, Raymond V. Corigliano, Sr. departed this life. Ray was born in Springfield April 20, 1957 to the late Joseph V. Corigliano, Jr. and Elizabeth A. (Remington) Corigliano. A lifelong resident of Springfield, Ray attended Springfield Public Schools and pursued a career in the printing trade for many years, serving as a bookbinder, bindery supervisor, then technical and safety trainer and safety manager, spanning the years of 1974-2008. Ray worked at General Offset Printing/Alithochrome, CT Printers, Sterling Press and Treasure Chest Advertising/Vertis, Inc. He served as a board member for the National Council for Skills Standards in Graphic Communications, representing bindery and finishing operations. In the second half of his career, Ray transitioned his technical and safety management skills to serve as Environmental Health and Safety Manager for HP Hood in Agawam from 2009-2012, then ending his career with HPC Foodservice in Windsor, CT from 2012-2022. In his career, he made close friends, kept people safe, and had a positive impact on those around him.Ray was a communicant at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish in Springfield. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary-Rose (Guere) Corigliano. Ray also leaves his son, Raymond Vincent Corigliano, Jr.; his daughter, Sarah M. (Corigliano) Milbier and her husband, Sean Milbier; his grandchildren, Madeleine Milbier and Sofia Milbier; his mother, Elizabeth A. Corigliano; his brother Anthony Corigliano and wife Beverly of Hampden; his brother James Corigliano and wife Wendy of West Springfield; father-in-law Leonard Guere of California City, CA; brothers-in-law Charles Guere and wife Mary Lynn of Amsterdam, NY; Robert Guere and wife Kerry of California City, CA; Richard Guere and wife Kitten of Fairborn, OH, and Joshua Guere and wife Kara of Fairborn, OH. Ray also leaves aunts Rita Corigliano of East Longmeadow and Sabrina Robb of Ocala, FL, as well as many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews. In the last month of his life, Ray received loving care from family friend Jean Curtis, for which he was so grateful.The family would like to express gratitude to Ray’s medical providers: Dr. Ginns and staff at Boston General Hospital; Dr. Najeebi, Laurie and Alex at Pioneer Valley Pulmonology; Dr. Markham and staff at PVCA; Donna, Michelle, Dawn and associates at Baystate Pulmonary Rehabilitation; and the myriad wonderful staff at Mercy Medical Center, including Dr. Glynn and the staff on the second and fifth floors who took such loving care of him as he transitioned from this life.
Ray loved spending time with his wife and best friend, Mary-Rose; participating in shooting sports; riding his touring motorcycle; visiting the Southwest and American historical sites; cooking and grilling; listening to Cousin Brucie’s radio show while relaxing in his sun room; visiting the Lewis Bay area of Cape Cod; and spending time with his beloved granddaughters, who brought him pure pride and joy for the eight years he was their Papa. Calling hours for Ray will be held Sunday, March 26, 2023 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Forastiere-Smith Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 220 North Main St., East Longmeadow. Funeral services will take place Monday, March 27, 2023 beginning at 8:30AM from the funeral home. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 123 William St., Springfield . Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery , Springfield.
