Mary Margaret Gallant

Feeding Hills- Mary “Peggy” (Smalley) Gallant, 68, passed away May 15, 2019 in Springfield. Peggy was born May 28, 1950 to the late Francis and Mary (Sheehan) Smalley in Holyoke. Peggy graduated Holyoke Community College and received her Bachelor’s degree in education from Westfield State. She recently retired from the Registry, however her work with Infinity Insurance in the claims department was more memorable for her. Peggy will always be remembered as the go to mom among her children’s group of friends. She loved animals and rooting for the underdog, like those Washington Capitals. But for her it was all about family. Her role of being Grammie became her passion in life, with her granddaughter being the twinkle in her eye. She will be deeply missed by her loving husband of 46 years Sam; her son Steven Gallant of Agawam; her daughter Christine Raynor and her husband Noah of Ashburnham; granddaughter Hailey Anne Raynor; sister-in-law Joyce Smalley as well as extended family; and forever friends Marsha Shepard, Kristine Mercier and many more. Friends and family are invited to gather Monday May 20, 2019 from 4pm-7pm for visiting hours in Colonial Forastiere Funeral Home, 985 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001. A funeral service will be held Tuesday May 21, 2019 at 9:45am in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Massachusetts Veterans’ Cemetery in Agawam, MA.
