Obituary

Springfield – Paul “Sam” Samble, 64, passed away unexpectedly on October 5, 2020. Paul was born in Springfield to the late Theodore and Marianne (Valentini) Samble. Paul graduated from Classical High School where he played on the football and wrestling teams, earning his Bachelor’s degree from UMass Amherst. Paul served as a football official for the NCAA, WMFOA and Pop Warner leagues for over 40 years. He was a member of the Springfield JCC, Sector H Community Police, Elks Lodge #61 and Pioneer Valley Yacht Club. Paul was a trusted and faithful friend, and will be remembered for his wonderful, warm smile and generosity. Paul loved his job as a liquor salesman for Martignetti Companies, and cared deeply for his colleagues and customers. He loved cats and dogs, and cared for many cats over the years that would wander into his yard and decide to stay; he just couldn’t say no to a furry face. Paul loved watching football on TV and fishing. He enjoyed cooking--especially if there was a grill involved. Shopping at the Big Y was a favorite part of his weekend routine. Over the years he nurtured a few vegetable gardens that he was most proud of. He was known for his ability to keep the secrets he was entrusted with, and was steadfastly loyal to and had great love and affection for his family. Paul was devoted to and will be forever missed by his loving wife Susan Cole Samble of Springfield, his sisters, Ann Marie Kuss and her husband Charles, of Monson and Christine Howe and her husband Arthur of Springfield, his aunts Helen, Janice and Linda Valentini all of Springfield, his uncle Vincent Valentini and his wife Angela of Virginia Beach, VA, his sister-in-law Janice Cole of Bristol CT, and brother-in-law Scott Cole and his wife Michele of Bethel ME, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and friends. The family invites all to attend a Memorial Luncheon for Paul on Saturday, October 24, 2020, 12 noon to 3 pm at the Elks Lodge outdoor pavilion, 440 Tiffany Street, Springfield MA.
