Obituary

East Longmeadow- Pasquale Idalgo Rossi, 83, died peacefully at home surrounded by loving family on June 28, 2019. He was born in Montefalcone nel Sannio, in the region of Molise, Italy on January 6, 1936 to the late Carmine and Maria (Cordisco) Rossi. Pasquale’s enduring love and profound commitment to family were instilled during his childhood in Italy where he cultivated his land for their benefit and survival. Despite his innate love for home, he made the difficult decision to move away at the age of 14 to learn the cabinet making trade, which propelled him towards greater opportunity in Argentina, and, ultimately, the United States. Working as a cabinetmaker for Westfield Woodworking, Friendly Ice Cream Corporation, and his own business, Rossi Cabinet Maker, Pasquale’s incredible craftsmanship graced the homes and businesses throughout the region. He was a hard worker and took nothing for granted, identifying with the immigrant path he followed as a young man and appreciating all that he achieved in life. There was nothing Pasquale could not accomplish, building and fixing everything he could with his hands, whether it was improving his home, tending his beautiful garden, or creating extraordinary meals—always homemade, with more than enough for another person to pull up a chair. Family always came first with Pasquale. He cherished holidays, family gatherings, birthday celebrations, and watching Red Sox, Patriots, and Celtics games. He was a master storyteller who generously shared his incredible life experience with everyone that he met. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Annina Rossi. He leaves behind his loving wife of almost 56 years Maria (Cataldo) Rossi of East Longmeadow; his sons Peter and his wife Racheal of Findlay, OH, Pasquale of East Longmeadow, and Michael and his wife Vanessa of Byfield, MA; his daughter Adriana Iacobucci and her husband David of East Longmeadow; and 11 grandchildren, Makai, Josefina, Lena, Sofia, Eliza, Luca, Theodore, Winona, Carmen, Lydia, and Max. Family and friends are invited to gather Tuesday July 2, 2019 from 4 – 7pm in the Forastiere Smith Funeral Home, 220 North Main Street, East Longmeadow, MA. A funeral service will be held July 3, 2019 in the funeral home at 9:45am. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am in St. Michael’s Parish, 128 Maple Street, East Longmeadow. Burial will follow at St. Michael’s Cemetery, Springfield. For more information, or to leave a message of personal condolence please visit www.forastiere.com
