Owen E.J. McCann

Owen E.J. McCann, 79, passed away peacefully October 6, 2021. Born January 6, 1942 in Philadelphia, PA, he was a son to the late Eugene J. and Emma R. (Smith) McCann. Owen was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving our country proudly with the U.S. Air Force. Once honorably discharged, he started his career in law enforcement with the Springfield Police Department, retiring in 1998 following nearly 30 years of service. Owen enjoyed playing video games (World of Warcraft), providing D.J. services for chat rooms, collecting trains and watching anything Sci-Fi related, especially Star Wars and Star Trek. He is survived by his son Gregory M. McCann and his wife, Christina; daughter Erin M. McCann; grandchildren Eric, Tylor and Emily McCann, Ty Edwards, Braydon Diaz, Isabella and Esme McCann; his former wife Joan McCann-Pawshuk; and numerous other loving relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Owen was predeceased by his wife Carol Pemberton-McCann; daughter Karen B. McCann; former spouse Rebecca McCann; and sisters Barbara, Michelle, Verna and Debbie. A graveside service with military honors for Owen will be held at 11AM on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 in the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St., Agawam, MA. Colonial Forastiere Funeral Home, Agawam has been entrusted with arrangements.
