Nicola "Nick" M. Pietroniro

Nicola “Nick” M. Pietroniro, 84, passed away on July 19, 2019 at Heritage Hall West in Agawam. Born in Springfield, MA on October 31, 1934, he was the son of the late Angelo M. and Alfonsina (Sticca) Pietroniro. For 23 years, Nick was employed by the City of Springfield Department of Public Works, retiring in 1973. He also volunteered at Baystate Medical Center.

As a faithful communicant of Holy Cross Church, he served as an usher and on the Parish Council.

To cherish his memory, Nick leaves his siblings Giuseppe R. Pietroniro and his wife Carmella of East Longmeadow, Antonio J. Pietroniro and his wife Linda of FL and Mary R. Maiolo and her husband James of Springfield; nieces and nephews Angela Curry and her husband George, Joe Pietroniro and his wife Carol, Dino Pietroniro and Gina Buckley and her husband Michael as well as many great nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Heritage Hall West for their love, care and compassion for Nick.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 from 4 - 7 PM at Forastiere Smith Funeral Home, 220 North Main Street, East Longmeadow. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 24, 2019 beginning at 8:45 AM at the funeral home followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 AM at Holy Cross Church, 221 Plumtree Road, Springfield. Burial will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery, State Street, Springfield.
