SPRINGFIELD – Muriel R. Marcoux, 73, passed away on January 29, 2020 at her home. Born on May 3, 1946 in Saint-Pierre-de-la-Rivière-du-Sud, Quebec, Canada, she was the daughter of the late Lionel and Jeannine (Patry) Lemelin. In 1967, she married Leo J. Marcoux and started a new life in Springfield, MA. Together they started their family and in 1973 founded Marcoux Concrete Co. Inc. which continues on today. Muriel had a generous heart and was selfless. Elle aimait tellemette la vie, etant une femme chaleureuse qui aimait avoir du plaisir et profiter des petits plaisirs de la vie. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren attending their sporting events, having movie dates or hosting sleepovers. She was known for her hospitality, loved tending to her flower gardens and enjoyed having Saturday lunch dates with her girlfriends. Despite the distance, she made frequent trips to Canada to spend time with family. Muriel was also a longtime and faithful communicant of Holy Name Parish in Springfield. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 35 years, Leo J. Marcoux, who passed away in 2002. To cherish her memory, Muriel leaves her daughter Suzy Cieboter and her husband, David of Springfield; her daughter Lisa D'Angelo and her husband, Wayne of West Warren and her son Erik Marcoux and his wife, Nicole DeRaleau, of Somers, CT. She leaves her grandchildren Matthew Cieboter, Hannah D’Angelo, Jordan D’Angelo, Emily Cieboter, Madeline Marcoux and Evan Marcoux; her brother Hervé Lemelin and his wife, Suzanne; her sister Roseline (late husband Rene Isabelle) and her sister Danielle Isabel and her husband, Louis as well as her brother/sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews in Quebec. Family and friends are invited to gather on Friday, February 7, 2020 from 4 – 7 PM at Forastiere Smith Funeral Home, 220 North Main Street, East Longmeadow. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2020 beginning at 8:45 AM at the funeral home followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 AM at Holy Name Parish 323 Dickinson St, Springfield, MA. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Tinkham Rd. Springield. Memorial contributions in Muriel’s memory may be made to Holy Name Parish.
