Mortimer Rivera

Mortimer Rivera, 80, passed away on July 3, 2021. He was born on November 16, 1940 in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico to his parents Oscar and Rosauro (Rosas) Rivera. He later moved to New York and then to Springfield where he met the love of his life, Mirta.

He had worked for Hasbro, Inc. and later worked at Springfield College for 21 years until his retirement. Mort loved sports and was a huge Roberto Clemente fan. He was famously known by the nickname “#21”, his idol’s retired number.

He will be missed by his children Vivian Del Viscio and her husband Michael of East Longmeadow and Mort Rivera Jr. and his wife Liz of Chicopee; his grandchildren Tashiana Salinas and her husband Roberto, Skye Rivera, and Aliyah Rivera, as well as many great-grandchildren who he loved so much. He also leaves his brother Angel Oscar Rivera of Puerto Rico.

Visitation will be held on Sat., July 31, 2021 from 1 – 2 PM at Forastiere Smith Funeral & Cremation, 220 North Main Street, East Longmeadow followed by a service at 2 PM.
