Obituary

Agawam- Michael John Parzich, 62, died suddenly May 18th, 2019 at Baystate Medical in Springfield. Michael was born October 10, 1956 to the late John and Anna (Manarite) Parzich in Springfield. He graduated in 1974 from West Springfield High School. He was interested in a vast array of subjects and studied biology, psychology, and philosophy at several institutions of higher learning, including McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, and the University of Colorado. He worked as a sales representative, equities trader, and mail handler, each for major chapters of his life. Always active, Michael enjoyed martial arts, skiing, rock climbing, biking, and running. In 2012, he ran the Mad Marathon in Vermont. Michael, deeply loving and supportive, encouraged the passions of his family members and took great pride in the happiness of those around him. Though he was often a man of few words, his calm demeanor and kind gestures made an impact on everyone who knew him. He was a proud and devoted dad to his two sons, and, though usually quiet, was never at a loss for words when it came to their accomplishments. Michael enjoyed any time he could spend with his wife, Cheryl, from mundane trips to the grocery store to getaways to favorite destinations like Newport, Walt Disney World, the Grand Canyon, and Sedona. When they worked opposite shifts, their “date nights” became a highly anticipated weekly tradition. He enjoyed cooking, reading, doing crossword puzzles, listening to eclectic music, and the simpler things in life like spending time with his family, whom he loved dearly. He is deeply missed by his wife of 28 years, Cheryl of Agawam; his sons Kyle and Benjamin; his brother James of West Springfield; his sister Joann Costa and her husband Dave of Virginia; his nephews Ryan Costa and his wife Sarah, and David Costa; his brother-in-law Gregg Rubeck of West Springfield; his sister-in-law Cristina Serrano of Agawam; his nieces Allie Rubeck and Sonia Rubeck; and a great many friends and extended family members. Friends and family are invited to gather for calling hours on Thursday May 23, 2019 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Colonial Forastiere Funeral Home, 985 Main Street, Agawam, MA. A funeral service will be held on Friday May 24, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Faith United Church, 52 Sumner Avenue, Springfield.
