Obituary

East Longmeadow-  Michael W. Lyman, 37, passed away unexpectedly on May 18, 2019.Michael was born on February 24, 1982 in Springfield; but lived in East Longmeadow the majority of his life. He was a graduate of East Longmeadow High School. After high school, Michael volunteered for the US Marine Corps and bravely and honorably served his country. He participated in operation Iraqi Freedom and, as with many veterans, came home changed by that experience. He was honorably discharged in 2005. With the help of the VA, he was on track and working towards his future at the Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital in Bedford, MA.
Michael loved being outdoors. He loved camping and thought any day with a fishing pole in his hand was a great day. He recently took up coin collecting and was trying to build a collection like his Grandfather Wilson.
 Michael was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Robert F. Wilson, a US Navy veteran of WWII and his maternal grandmother Ellie Wilson as well has his paternal grandparents, Nan Lyman and Richard A. Lyman, a US Army veteran of the Battle of the Bulge in WWII. Michael is survived by his mother, Carol (Wilson) Lyman, of Chicopee; his father and stepmother, Mark W. and Diane Lyman, of Springfield; his three children, Makayla Lyman, Kayleigh Lyman , Jacob Lyman; a brother, Christopher Lyman; step grandmother, Margo Wilson in Florida; and many other extended family members.  His funeral service will be private. No calling hours.
