Ellington CT – Michael J. Burns passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 from injuries sustained in a car accident. He was born in Springfield to his parents Richard J. Burns and Margaret (Egolf) Chouinard, graduated from Cathedral High School, and obtained his undergraduate and graduate degrees from UMass Amherst. He was an Environmental Engineer, most recently worked for AECom. Mike was a car enthusiast. His favorite past times was to restore old cars with his son David and his father-in-law, weight lifting and spending time with his family at Ocean City Beach in New Jersey. The thing that brought Mike most joy was to watch his kids, David and Julia, do their tricking.
Besides his parents, he leaves to cherish his memory his adored children, David Burns and Julia Burns of Ellington CT; his siblings Kevin Burns and his wife Shannin of Somers CT, Stephanie Hills and her husband Keith of Maynard MA, Brian Magnier of Oregon, and Maryanne Magnier of Washington DC; the mother of his children, Doria Burns; and nieces and nephews.
To honor Mike’s wishes, services are private. Memorial donations may be made in Mike’s memory to assist his children for the future.
