Maureen Ann Serafino
September 20, 1935 ~ March 14, 2019 (age 83) 83 Years Old
Maureen A. (Maloney) Serafino, age 83, longtime resident of Springfield, passed away Thursday, March 14, 2019 at East Longmeadow Skilled Nursing. Maureen was born and raised in Springfield’s Hungry Hill and was the daughter of the late Francis J. and Helen (Koras) Maloney. She married Richard A. Serafino Sr. and raised 7 children. Maureen graduated in1952 from Cathedral High School and became an X-Ray Technician. She worked her entire career for Springfield Radiology and Imaging. Maureen was a communicant of St. Paul’s Church. Maureen was caring and compassionate, and received the most joy when surrounded by her family. She always felt the more the merrier. She enjoyed vacationing in Maine and Florida and was an avid sports fan. She enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren compete. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. In addition to her parents, Maureen was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Richard A. Serafino Sr.; her daughter, Susan M. Finn; 2 grandchildren, Gary Vancini and Thomas Finn; and 4 brothers, Francis, Robert, David and Stephen Maloney. She is survived by her devoted children, Gail A. Serafino, Richard A. Serafino Jr, Anthony F. Serafino, Paul M. Serafino, David S. Serafino, and Andrew J. Serafino; her 18 grandchildren, Christopher and Nicholas Vancini, Colin, Kevin, Sheila, Matthew, Thomas, Paul T., Owen, Quinn, David, Kaeli, Jack, Alana, Drew, Samuel, Eloise, and Theodore Serafino; and 8 great-grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Monday, March 18th from 4-8PM at Forastiere Smith Funeral Home, 220 North Main St., East Longmeadow. Maureen’s funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 19th from the funeral home at 8:45AM followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Paul’s Church, Springfield.
