Maura Elizabeth Forsyth

Maura E. Forsyth, 53, of East Longmeadow passed away on Tuesday December 22, at Massachusetts General Hospital after a long and courageous battle. Maura worked as a registered nurse for 30 years at Mercy Hospital, Baystate Medical Center and the Pioneer Valley Surgical Center. Born in Springfield, MA on November 28, 1967, Maura resided in East Longmeadow for the past 16 years. She graduated from Cathedral High School in 1985, attended St. Elizabeth’s School of Nursing in Boston and graduated from Holyoke Community College in 1988 with an associate’s degree in nursing.  She was a communicant of St. Michael’s Parish.

She is survived her husband of 25 years, Sean M. Forsyth and her son Jack H. Forsyth. Maura was predeceased by her father, the late Harold F. Beek. She is also survived by her mother, Margaret Beek (Joyce), two brothers; Joseph E. Beek and his wife Barbara (Braun) of New Seabury, MA, Stephen J. Beek and his wife Tiffany (Cunningham) of East Longmeadow and many loving nieces and nephews. 

Maura was very passionate about nursing and was truly loved and respected by her colleagues.  She was a beloved mother and wife who loved being at the beach and spending time at her pool with her son, husband, other family members and friends.  She will be missed by all beyond anything that could be communicated in words.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Colleen Keys, Dr. Glenn Hanna and the other doctors and nurses at Massachusetts General Hospital and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
