Mary Ann Ross

Springfield – Mary Ann (Kara) Ross, 80, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother died on Sunday, September 23, 2018. She was born in Woodbridge, NJ to the late Alex and Barbara (Popovitch) Kara and was a graduate of Weldon High School in the Bronx. After raising her family, Mary Ann was employed as a sales clerk for over 20 years at Crockett Stores in East Longmeadow and Longmeadow. She worked at Open Pantry for 10 years and then retired from the East Longmeadow Sr. Center where she worked in food service after 10 years. Mary Ann loved working on her computer playing games and keeping up with her children and grandchildren on Facebook. She was an active member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church for many years and her greatest joy was being a wife and mother. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her loving husband of 31 years, Richard Ross who died in 1990; a daughter, Lynn Coggshall; a grandson, Shawn Ross; and 5 siblings. She is survived by her son, Keith Ross and his wife Elizabeth of Springfield; her 2 daughters, Karen Hofhaug and her husband Richard of Medway, MA, and Lori Buckman and her husband Martin of Burlington, NC; a son-in-law, Steven Coggshall of Ecuador; 5 grandchildren, Keith (Becka), Amy (Eric), Kristie (John), Kara (James), and Kelly; and 7 great-grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Sunday, September 30th from 4-6PM followed by a funeral home service at 6PM in Forastiere Smith Funeral Home 220 North Main St., East Longmeadow, MA. Interment of Mary Ann’s urn will be held on Monday, October 1st at 11AM in Hillcrest Memorial Park, 895 Parker St., Springfield.
