Mary S. (Silverman) Leahy

FEEDING HILLS - Mary Lee Silverman Leahy, 75, passed away on June 23, 2018. Born in Holyoke, MA on September 23, 1942 to the late Marvin Silverman and Ruth (Ross) Zucco, she was a graduate of West Springfield High School. She then attended Springfield Technical Community College where she received her Associate’s Degree in Law Enforcement. Mary attended Mansfield Beauty Academy in Springfield and the Agawam Police Academy, becoming a Reserve Police Officer as well. For many years, she worked for Steiger’s Department Store in their Loss Prevention Department. Mary was a member of many organizations including the Women’s Club of Agawam, Democratic Committee, St. Patrick’s Committee in Agawam and American Legion Post 207 Auxiliary in West Springfield. She was also a Board Member for the Council on Aging in Agawam. Besides her parents, Mary was predeceased by her husband Thomas J. Leahy who passed away on April 1, 2015; step-father Bruno Zucco and her sister Susan Nardi. She leaves her children Craig E. Moon of Fall River, MA and Michelle Moon- Smart and her husband Tom of Feeding Hills, MA; grandchildren Jesse and Mia Smart and Ryan Wendal; brother James Zucco of Agawam; sister Paula Rodier of Feeding Hills, MA as well as many nieces and nephews. Services will be private and have been entrusted to Colonial Forastiere Funeral Home, 985 Main Street, Agawam.
