Martha Lee Horner

MARTHA LEE (WILLETT) HORNER left us on December 29, 2017. Lee was born in Lynn MA on January 31, 1928 to Harold P and Jeanette (Shrum) Willett of Swampscott, MA. She attended Kendall Hall, Peterborough,NH and Vermont College, Montpelier, VT. She raised her family in Windsor, CT after moving from Newington. After retiring from Connecticut General, she moved to Westfield, MA, then Crystal River, FL. She spent the last two years in South Windsor, CT to be closer to her children.
She was active in Grace Church, Windsor, in the ECW, Women’s Evening Group, and taught Sunday school. When she moved to Florida, she attended St Ann’s Episcopal Church in Crystal River, and most recently St John’s Episcopal Church in Vernon, CT.
She loved to knit and found joy in creating decorative things for herself, her family and her friends.
She leaves her children Charles Horner, daughter-in-law Carol Horner, Lynnette Morris and husband Timothy, Robin Horner, Richard Horner and wife Nancy, and Jeannette Hawran and husband Frederick, and 10 grandchildren, Devin Horner, Nikki Horner, Kyle Horner, Serena Morris, Eric Chad Horner, Rayna Horner, Helen Grace Horner, Sara Hawran, Katie Hawran, and Michelle Hawran, and great-grandson, Luis Hernandez, Jr. She also leaves good friends in Crystal River FL and New Jersey. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Jean Wellington, her former husband Robert L Horner, and her special friend Robert Barrup.
A memorial service will be held at Grace Episcopal Church, 311 Broad St., Windsor, CT on Saturday February 3,2018 at 12:00 Noon. The family will receive friends starting at 11:00 in the Great Hall located in the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grace Episcopal Church in Windsor, or to the worthy cause of the donor’s choice. Southwick Forastiere Family Funeral Home, Southwick, MA is assisting the family with final arrangements.
