Obituary

Marlene A. DesLauriers (Colburn), 81, passed away at home on Jan. 30. Born April 5, 1937 in Post Mills, Vt. to the late Frank and Ida (Cook) Colburn, she was the youngest of eight children. She graduated from West Lebanon (N.H.) High School in 1955. After graduation, she worked as a secretary for the U.S. Naval Dept. in Washington, D.C. In 1959 she enlisted in the U.S. Air Force as an Airman Basic and trained as a medical service specialist. Marlene lived most of her adult life in Springfield and worked as an LPN for 26 years before retiring in 2001 from Holyoke Hospital. Besides her parents, Marlene was predeceased by her husband, Ernest W. DesLauriers Jr., six siblings including Clara Laber (Riverside, R.I.), and her sons, Thomas Lewis and Daniel Lewis.
She leaves her loving children: Randall Lewis and wife, Louise, of New Windsor, N.Y.; Sarah Godek and husband, Jeff, of Springfield; Kate Campiti and husband, Frank, of Suffield, Ct.; David DesLauriers and partner, Anthony Fay, of Springfield; and Diane LeBeau and husband, Chris, of Fort Mill, SC. She also leaves the joys of her life, her grandchildren: David Lewis; Carissa Sabatasso, Andrew Lewis, Jessica Sabatasso, Dani Lewis; Emma Lewis; Samantha Furrer, her husband Jeremy and daughter Juliet; Tyler Godek; Frankie and Lyra Campiti; and Travis and Parker LeBeau.
Family and friends are invited to a service at St. John the Evangelist Church, 833 Main Street, Agawam, MA on Wednesday, Feb. 6 at 1 p.m. with military service to follow at Mass. Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St., Agawam. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Marlene’s name may be made to the Sister Caritas Cancer Center, 271 Carew St., Springfield; Baystate Hospice, 50 Maple St., Springfield; or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
