Margot C. Pete, 95, passed away peacefully at Heritage Hall Nursing Home, Agawam on February 22nd, 2021 after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. Margot was born in Marienburg, West Prussia (now called Malbork Poland) on May 3rd, 1925 to the late Ernest and Charlotte Lenk. Margot was predeceased by her brother Gunter and her sister Hannalor.
In 1946 Margor and family relocated to Gelnhausen Germany, home of the 1/33 Armor Battalion. Margot was employed as a cashier at the Post Exchange. It was there that she met her future husband, Richard. After a year of courtship, Margot and Richard were married at the Gelnhausen Post Chapel on June 7th, 1961. Margot immigrated to the United States with Jennifer who was six months old in November of 1963. Margot would inform you that one of the most rewarding achievements in her life, was in may of 1967. She applied for and passed the requirements for Naturalization. Margot returned to our apartment in Long Branch, NJ to inform me that she was now a proud American citizen.
Upon Richard’s retirement from the service, Margot and family relocated to Chicopee, MA, and then once again to Margot’s present address in Southwick Mass. Margot belonged to the First Congregational Church in Southwick for a short duration until the effects of Alzheimer’s prevented attendance. In addition to her loving husband Richard, Margot is survived by her daughter Jennifer Stebbins and her husband Scott Stebbins of Westfield, and her daughter Tina Gray of Mill Valley California; two grandchildren Christopher Roy of Wisconsin and Matthew Roy of Westfield. Margot is also survived by several nieces and nephews all who reside in Germany.
