LONGMEADOW- Margaret H. Rigali, 94, passed away on September 27, 2021. Born in Springfield, MA on March 15, 1927 to the late Henry and Ella (Lewinson) Smith, she graduated from the High School of Commerce in the Class of 1944. As a young girl she loved to dance and to compete in roller skating events at the Rialto rink on Walnut Street, Springfield and the old “Rink de Lux” at Riverside Park, Agawam..
She married the love of her life, Paul H. Rigali on May 5, 1945 and lived with his parents, Leo and Clara Rigali, late of Wilbraham, until Paul returned from his responsibilities as a naval officer in WWII. Marge and Paul moved from Springfield to Longmeadow in 1952, where they raised their three children. They were married for 71 years until Paul’s passing in February of 2016.
As a longtime communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Longmeadow, Marge was a member of the St. Mary’s Parish Guild. She also was a volunteer at Longmeadow High School and Baystate Medical Center. Marge and Paul enjoyed time with numerous friends in Longmeadow, Florida and the Cape.
Marge was also predeceased by her seven siblings and their spouses: brothers Robert, Phillip, Herbert and George Smith and sisters Annie Quinn, Marion Stears and Ellen DiAugostino.
To cherish her memory, Marge leaves her children Dr. Paul H. Rigali, Jr. and his wife Sharon of Woodstock, VT; Attorney Henry L. Rigali of Hadley, MA; daughter Beverly A. Siano, MS, RN and her husband Robert of The Villages, FL; grandchildren: Garrett Rigali and his wife Vera, Meghan Rigali and her husband Matthew Schlein; Zachary Rigali, Kyle Rigali and his wife Collette; Christina (Siano) Medina and her partner Coquina Benetiz, Patti (Siano) Nunes and her husband Nick, Michael Siano and his wife Lisa (DiRosa); Whit Rigali, Jonathan Rigali and his wife Mary, Jeff Rigali and his wife Leanne, and Jodie Rigali. She also leaves twelve great-grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., on Thursday, September 30, 2021 at Forastiere Smith Funeral & Cremation, 220 N. Main Street, East Longmeadow.
