Margaret Corcoran

Margaret E. Corcoran, 102, passed away on November 20, 2022 at East Longmeadow Skilled Nursing Center. Born in Raleigh, NC on February 23, 1920 to the late Percy W. and Ellen (McCullough) Price, she graduated from Chicopee High School in the Class of 1938. Her late father was the founder of the Music Program at NC State University in Raleigh, and the Price Music Center was named in his honor. In 2015, Margaret established the “Margaret Price Corcoran Marching Band Scholarship Endowment” in honor of her father.

On November 20, 1943, she married Edward F. Corcoran. They built their home on Bliss Road in Longmeadow in 1952 and have been residents of Longmeadow since. The same year, Margaret became a devoted communicant of St. Andrew’s Church where she taught Sunday school and became very involved in many other church activities.

She had worked as an office manager for various companies including the family business, Edward F. Corcoran Plumbing & Heating Co.

In her spare time, Margaret was also a 50 year member of the Springfield Country Club, a former President and longtime member of the Women’s Golf Association and enjoyed bowling.

Besides her parents and her loving husband of 54 years, Edward who passed away on February 23, 1998, she was predeceased by her grandson Matthew Green and her siblings Percy W. Price and Dorothy E. Barry.

To cherish her memory, Margaret leaves her children Barbara Constance and her husband David of Harwich, MA and John Corcoran and his wife Barbara of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; her grandchildren William (Michelle) Corcoran and Jamie (Nicholas) Sullivan and her great grandchildren Nicolas and Alexandria Corcoran and Trenton and Ryder Sullivan.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 from 10 – 11 AM at Forastiere Smith Funeral & Cremation, 220 North Main Street, East Longmeadow with a service to follow at 11 AM. Burial will be in Longmeadow Cemetery.
