Lorraine A. Gaudette, 93, passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at the JGS Lifecare Nursing Home in Longmeadow. Lorraine was born in Lowell, MA on July 25, 1929 to the late Raymond and Cecile (Alexander) Barry. She graduated from St. Joseph’s High School in 1946 and then attended Rivier College in NH.
For 15 years, prior to retiring, Lorraine worked as a clerk at Shawmut Bank in East Longmeadow. In her spare time, she was a member of the Red Hat Society and Morning Glory Walkers. She was also a faithful member of St. Michael’s Parish in East Longmeadow where she was an Extraordinary Minister and member of the Young at Heart. She enjoyed knitting, sewing and creating vestamayd rugs.
In addition to her parents, Lorraine was predeceased by her beloved husband of 69 years, Bernard “Bernie” V. Gaudette and her sisters Claire Dumais and Jeannette Burns.
Lorraine will be deeply missed by her children Suzanne Guerra and her husband John of Concord, MA; Barry Gaudette and his wife Bella of Elizabethtown, KY; Gail Quinn and her husband Dennis of Ludlow, MA; Bruce Gaudette and his wife Robin of Terrebonne, OR; Elaine Gaudette and her husband Bill Lostocco of Haddam, CT; and Karen Gaudette and her husband Christopher Chinian of Greenfield, MA; her 9 grandchildren, Merli, John, Jennifer, Amanda, Cathy, Cory, Jeffrey, Benjamin, Samuel; 10 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; her brother Gerald Barry as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Lorraine’s family would like to thank all of the dedicated staff members at JGS Lifecare and Spectrum Hospice for all the care and compassion she was shown. Her days were made brighter by the shared laughs and your warm smiles. Words cannot express the family’s gratitude for the kindness and support given.
Lorraine’s funeral will be on Friday, March 31, 2023, with a calling hour from 9:00 - 10:00am at Forastiere Smith Funeral & Cremation, 220 North Main Street, East Longmeadow. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00am in St. Michael’s Parish, 128 Maple Street, East Longmeadow. Burial will be in the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Agawam at 1:00pm.
