It is with sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Lisa Ann (Mercadante) Pignatare announce her passing on Thursday, January 6, 2022. She will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She was a teacher for the Holyoke Charter School and various other schools in the area. She enjoyed children and being an educator to kindergarten and elementary students. Her greatest joy was her family and spending time together at the beach or by the pool.
Born in Springfield to James and Rose (Cirillo) Mercadante, Lisa was a longtime resident of Westfield. She graduated from Agawam High School and obtained her Bachelor’s Degree from AIC and Master’s Degree from Westfield State College.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 40 years, Ronald Pignatare, their two daughters, Lisa and Beth Pignatare of Westfield; her brothers, Michael Mercadante and his wife Linda of Agawam, Dino Mercadante and his wife Mary of Agawam and Dario Mercadante and his wife Nina of Ludlow; her brothers-in-law Frank Pignatare of Agawam, and Charles Pignatare and his wife Marla of Westfield; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are invited to gather for visiting hours on Tuesday, January 11th, 2022 from 10:00am-12:00pm at Colonial Forastiere Funeral & Cremation on 985 Main Street in Agawam, with a 12:00pm ceremony to honor Lisa’s life. Her burial will be in the future at the convenience of the family. Donations may be made in Lisa’s memory to Shriners Children’s Hospital, 516 Carew Street, Springfield MA 01104.
